Welcome

Welcome Winston Program Challenge Students and Parents! I would like to extend a special welcome to our new PCers. I am so excited to have you join our wonderful group! This year promises to provide many fun and challenging learning opportunities for Winston Program Challenge students. Here's some helpful information about the start of our year:

PC is a resource room with students spending approximately one day per week in the gifted classroom. Students will be studying units meeting gifted students special needs based on county curriculum guidelines while meeting Common Core Performance Standards.  To learn more about Program Challenge, please review the attached information. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. Also- a PC newsletter will be sent home each nine weeks to update you on PC events. New PC parents- I strongly encourage you to contact me as soon as possible so we can set up a conference to discuss your child’s entry into PC as well as PC expectations and requirements. Not so new PC parents- please feel free to do so as well, if you would like.

Please get involved in your child’s gifted education! Click here to Join DCAGC! This organization is a strong county parent group which meets three times per year at the board office. Summer opportunities, specific elementary and middle school needs, baccalaureate and honors programs are just a few of the possible topics discussed at these meetings. These meetings are also a wonderful time to meet other parents with gifted children who can share with you possible approaches to your child’s needs at school and at home. DCAGC dues are used to provide needed materials and professional development opportunities for the gifted program in Douglas County.
