Bio

ALL ABOUT ME:

Douglas County has been my home for the majority of 48 years.  I am honored to be part of the educational community in my home town.  I attended Douglas County schools and graduated from Lithia Springs High School in 1987.  After graduating from the University of Georgia in 1991, I began a business career in the insurance industry.  After five years of the "rat race", I decided to follow the family tradition (my mother, aunt, brother, sister, brother-in-law and sisters-in-law are all educators) and become a teacher.  I attended the University of West Georgia where I earned my certification in Early Childhood Education.  I started my teaching career in 1997 at Bright Star Elementary where I was honored with the Sallie Mae First Class Teacher Award. I was also named Winston Elemetary Teacher of the Year for 2016 and Douglas County Teacher of the Year Semi-finalist 2016.

After eight years as a classroom teacher, I again made a career change and earned an ESOL Endorsement at UWG.   As an ESOL teacher, I support students who are learning English as a second language. The ESOL program is designed to equip students with the necessary language skills to be successful in the regular classroom.  My goal is to help move students through various proficiency levels until they are considered English language proficient.  I am so excited to serve Winston Elementary during the 2017/2018 school year!
