I began teaching in Douglas County in 2000 at Holly Springs Elementary. I was with Douglas County for eight years. I continued to teach in private schools until 2014. I was thrilled to accept a position at Winston Elementary in December, 2015! 

I have had the good fortune of teaching a diverse group of children at various grade levels; with the majority of my years being spent at the elementary level. My passion is meeting the individual child at his or her level using a variety of educational tools. I am committed to helping my students become critical thinkers, problem solvers, and to create lessons that will lead to moments of discovery.

• Completed 30 hour comprehensive Orton-Gillingham Multi-Sensory training

Hi, my name is Mrs. Woods and I am thrilled to be your child’s 4^th grade teacher at Winston Elementary school! I am committed to making this a memorable and enriching year. Teaching is my passion, especially teaching reading. I hope to instill a love of reading in all of my students. The next few months are sure to be busy as we work hard, explore, and have fun! I can’t wait to get to know you, but first here’s a little about me.

I was born in New Orleans, LA, but grew up right here in Douglas County. In fact, my parents owned a fabulous Italian restaurant in the county for eighteen years called Carollo’s Restaurant. I worked there many weekends and miss it a lot! I am married to Jim Woods and we have one son named Jacob (14). I spend most of my spare time taking him to practice and to basketball games. We have an Australian Shepherd named Smokey.

I’m very excited to spend the 2017-2018 school year with you. Let’s make it a great one. Go WILDCATS!
